We know in today's age and it would seem especially in the United Kingdom we are bound by legislation under the various permutation of the Health and Safety acts and this will only be increased.
We are constantly updated as members of the FSB. The problem is that most areas can be a minefield with who is responsible for what. Owners should be aware of their responsibilities of whom they have and how those people work on board and that it is safe to work.
Marine Clean became aware of the potential hazards whilst working at the Southampton Boat show four years, ago when storms were prevailing in the early hours of the morning, employing staff to clean boats. An accident did happen and we were referred to the Heath and Safety Officer at the show and reprimanded. After that we requested the services of MENTOR part of the NAT West bank to evaluate and put together our health and safety schedule and safe working practices.
